Cumberland County Schools – Driver Education Program Overview
Eligibility:
Students must be:
Between 14½ and 17½ years old
Actively enrolled in a public, private, charter, or licensed home school within Cumberland County
Registration Guidelines
Registration is accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.
Virtual Classes
Includes students from:
Cumberland International
Cross Creek Early College
Cumberland Virtual Academy
Cumberland Polytechnic
Massey Hill Classical High School
Reid Ross Classical High School
Homeschool and Private Schools
Registration is also on a first-come, first-served basis.
Important Notes:
No re-enrollment:
Students who fail the course will not be allowed to re-enroll in Driver Education.Students age 18 or older:
Not required to take Driver Education by law
May apply directly for a learner’s permit or license at the NC DMV
If choosing to enroll in classroom instruction:
Must obtain a learner’s permit before scheduling the 6 hours of behind-the-wheel training
